Homeschooler’s Yearbook

There are certain traditions in seated schools that I still carry. One especially is the idea of a yearbook. Creating an annual album for your homeschool children is a wonderful way to document their academic and personal growth throughout the school year. This practice not only serves as a keepsake for the family but also a visual representation of the academic achievements, personal development, and memorable moments.

My annual project starts in May where I begin to thread everything that happened from last summer onwards: camping trips, gatherings, theater, friends from enrichment classes, and moments where the kids are building experiments and solving problems. These are all memories and as I compile the album, I set goals for the upcoming school year. This process motivates both me and the children to strive for continuous improvement and provides a roadmap for the next academic term.

Completing and reviewing the annual album provides a sense of accomplishment for both parents and children. It creates a reference point for family to review and reflect what worked, what could get better and reinforces the idea that education is an ongoing journey with milestones worth acknowledging.
